My sincerest apologies for the extended delay from my last post. The past 3 weeks have been extremely busy. I've been in St. Louis for training for the 2nd major phase of "the project", which has left me dazed and confused to say the least. I get a slight break from the road next week and then it is back to my continuous tour of Petfood Manufacturing Americana. Just an FYI for all the NPP brethren out there; I got SNOWed yesterday. The preliminary verdict is that VPN sucks! Watch out.
One of the bonuses of traveling as much as I do is that you get to see the inside of airports. And do you know who hangs out in the inside of airports? That's right, small to medium sized celebrates. I have been on a roll that past couple weeks, especially in HJAIA (Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport). This Monday I saw two members of Hootie and the Blowfish. At first I saw a guy, being escorted down the concourse by Delta agents, who I thought looked a lot like a guy from Hootie and the Blowfish. I was on the phone with Brooke at the time but I don't think she believed me at this point. A few minutes passed by and then all doubts were erased from my mind. Walking down the concourse to the meet up with oddly familiar man number one was Darius himself. That clinched it. Definitely 2 members of Hootie and the Blowfish. The week before that, while checking in for a flight out of St. Louis I saw DMC from the famed hip-hop trio Run DMC. I was unclear on why he would be in St. Louis but I was in a bit of a hurry so I didn't have time to sit and ponder. A few months ago, while buying a delicious chicken biscuit from the A Concourse Chick-fil-A, I stood directly behind Andre 3000 as he too purchased the greatest breakfast sandwich of all time, the Chick-fil-A chicken biscuit. Andre was much shorter than I expected, but that is the impression I get every time I see a famous person in real life. Except that is for the time I saw Elle McPherson at Hethrow Airport in London. She is very tall but has no ass.
I've also shared a few flights with quasi-celbraties. Last year I was on a flight from LA to Atlanta with Pat O'Brien (I think that is his name at least. Because, come on, I did same quasi-celebrates didn't I?) If you don't know who that is, he is one of the host of Entertainment Tonight or E! or something, who recently got into a little bit of a media frenzy because of his drug induced, filthy mouthed, answering machine come-on he left one of the shows interns. (What was he thinking? Like leaving a message like that wouldn't make it to the Internet and eventually to the same show that you host). I was also on a flight from NYC to Atlanta with Shannon Sharpe. Nothing of note there except that it was the end of December in New York and he was wearing underarmor as a normal t-shirt. Then again, his arms are as big as my quads, so I refrained from making fun of him to his face.
Let's recap: Atlanta - Andre 3000, and 2 Members of Hootie and the Blowfish St. Louis - DMC London - Elle McPherson New York (LGA) - Shannon Sharpe
If you are semi famous and saw me at any airport and feel unjustly omitted from this list feel free to email me and I will get your name added to the list.
This would be the time in the post that I would comment on sports. Most likely college basketball. I am once again sorry to say that I have no comment. Not that I don't have an opinion, but I haven't be able to watch enough games to formulate an educated commentary. Anything at this point would just be speculation and mindless banter. I've had to apologize twice to Dee who has called me in the middle of two GaTech basketball games to talk about amazing plays. Not only was I not watching the games, but I was completely unaware that GaTech was playing. In my defense, even if I had of known, GaTech bball usually isn't picked up on the standard cable package of the Drury Inn in St. Louis (I am watching Duke run BC ragged right now though). One sport that I have been keeping up with, since the games are only once a week, is the NFL. We've got the Super Bowl coming up this weekend, which I think is going to be an entertaining game. Steelers - Seahawks...nice. Much better than the Broncos - Panthers. I guess Steelers - Panthers wouldn't have been so bad but I'm glad the way it turned out. At this point it is easier for me to predict the winner of the game than it is for me to predict the location in which I will watch the game. For the game, I'm going with the Steelers; for the location, I'm still weighing my options. Relax Dee, if the line is still 4.5 in favor of the Steelers, take the Hawks. If the line has changed, give me an update and I may change my prediction
I hope this post quenched your thirst for the Mule Strasse. I will make an effort to post more regularly during this busy time. Look forward to the comments.
