Of course I'm a Denver Broncos Fan! There is no other! As, I have grown up in Colorado. I have also grown up to be a very avid Broncos Fan! Colorado seems to have a love for sports. But, above all the Broncos are King around here!
I have even went as far as branding myself for life. In May of 2005, I decided to get a wonderful piece of art inked on my arm.
In the Broncos Nation we had wished for that elusive Championship for years. Even before the Elway years, there was always a passion for this team. Elway, strengthened that drive for the Super Bowl Win! Although, we would still have to wait. 4 loses in the big game. Other's, outside of Colorado, had wondered if Elway could win the "Big One". Well, along came a guy named Mike Shanahan. Or, as we like to call him, The Mastermind. Within a couple of years he had built a team around Johnny Boy that was of the elite caliber. No longer was Mr. Elway going to have to carry the team on his back. He now had help. And, it worked. The Broncos went on to knock off back to back Super Bowl wins, in 98' and 99'. What a feeling that first Championship gave me, especially after being an avid fan watching all their games for years.
As we move into the 2006 season. I am really excited about the year. In 2005, The Broncos made it to the AFC Championship game. Only to lose to the eventual Champion Pittsburgh Steelers.
There has been a few key additions to the team. Which, could be the missing links. Javon Walker was acuired in a trade with the Green Bay Packers in the off-season. He is a big reciever who is considered one of the best in the league. I was also very excited about the crew of draft picks this year. The Broncos are going to be a team to reckon with now and in the future. If you don't know you better ask somebody!
Hey folks.
The Denver Broncos start mini camp tomorrow - just three weeks before training camp starts.
Quarterbacks are always a big story. But early this season the quarterbacks will be the story in Denver.
By drafting Jay Cutler in the first round, Broncos coach Mike Shanahan signaled the beginning of the end for Jake Plummer. Now, how soon will the end come for Plummer. This season? Next?
And what will happen to the forgotten quarterback - Bradlee what's his name? Is this it for his chances as a quarterback? Will the Broncos keep three quarterbacks this year?
Those questions will be answered in the next month.
--------------
Wide receiver Ashley Lelie is only somewhat interesting because the Broncos brought in Javon Walker, who, if healthy, will be a vast improvement on Lelie.
The most interesting thing about the Lelie situation is that he continues a string of high-draft busts, putting doubts over Shanahan's ability to consistently draft quality players in the first round.
--------------
The running back battle should be a good one, too. Tatum Bell is the "home run" threat that every team wants. But he's inconsistent and is prone to fumbling. Ron Dayne, the Heisman Trophy winner from Wisconsin, wasn't used a lot last season, but the coaches appear to love the way he plays.
I'd be surprised if Dayne was not the starting running back when the season opens.
Stay tuned.
Until next time, peace.
