Shanahan, son on opposite sidelines; Kubiak returns to Denver
DENVER - Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan and his son, Kyle, the Houston Texans’ wide receivers coach, were careful not to say too much to each other on the eve of their preseason matchup.
The younger Shanahan said his dad was too sneaky and would undoubtedly pry something out of him, so he wasn’t willing to say much more than “Hey, Dad. See you Sunday night.”
The elder Shanahan said it was his son who was the spy in the family.
“He’s pretty good at stealing information. I think he might be getting some information from his mom, so I’m not bringing my playbook home this week,” Mike Shanahan said. “I’m not really sure who she’s rooting for, either.”
The game at Invesco Field is a homecoming in more ways than one.

Mike Bell?
I think Mike Shanahan is trying a little to hard to prove he is some sort of Running Back "guru" by moving undrafted rookie free agent Mike Bell to number one on the current depth chart.
I guess it wasn't good enough that the two guys ahead of Bell, Tatum Bell and Ron Dayne, eached averaged over 5 yards per carry last year.
Ii wasn't good enough that Shanahan was able to get more productivity out of Ron Dayne, in terms of yards per carry, than anyone else was over Dayne's dissapointing career.
Maybe Shanahan is using this to motivate Tatum Bell and Dayne, or maybe it doesn't really matter which Running Back plays in his system, they all seem to produce.
I'm guessing Tatum Bell, with his career YPC at 5.3, gets the bulk of the carries for Denver this year.
