Wow, what does this do to Jake Plummer in the Mile High City? Wow. Sorry, already said that.
There's some work to do for the first first round selection from Vanderbilt since 1986 - Cutler. His mechanics are not as solid as Matt Leinart, but he makes up for that with just pure play making ability. He can make all of the throws. The ball comes out of his hand hot. But, against a hard rush, he didn't set his feet and throw as he should (see the LSU film). His offensive line wasn't nearly as good as Leinart's or Young's but he'll have to fight off those bad habits.
He has the escapability vis a vis Young, but he's a gutty kid who carried Vandy through his entire four years in Nashville. In the Florida game, pulled that team through every tough situation, except in the last overtime, but everyone in the SEC knew how good he was. Now, he goes to Denver to work with Mike Shanahan, who must either believe wholeheartedly in Cutler or not much more in Jake Plummer.
This league is comprised of all my buddies, and I am the League Manager for this one. I randomized the draft order so don't think i purposefully got a sick #4 pick, probably everyone's #4 if i am thinking correctly. I personally think this might be the best of my three drafts at first glance... my running backs are stacked... Tiki, Domanick, Corey D, and Warrick Dunn. Come on, championship. 2 solid QBs and 3 primary WRs rounds out the top picks. Vince Young was like a cherry on top, surprised other rookie QBs went before him.
The best thing about this draft is that all the participants are from different states, different hometowns, and obviously along with that comes different dedication to other teams. One guy from CT, one in NJ, one in AZ, one from Boston, two from Florida... it made for a spicy draft and some people went with their heart over smart decisions. People were taking Defenses and Tight Ends way too early... tight ends historically score the least points out of any position. After going through 2 other drafts, i saw who the best people in my other leagues picked and just went with those.
Anyway, you let me know what you think audience.
