For Immediate Release Cercy Wins League’s Weekly Defensive Award DENVER â€" July 24, 2006 â€" Chris Cercy, midfielder for the Denver Outlaws of Major League Lacrosse, received the league’s Defensive Player of the Week honors for the ninth week of the season. He recorded 20 wins in 32 faceoffs (0.625) in the team’s 17-12 win over Chicago on Saturday night at INVESCO Field at Mile High. Cercy, who was among the team’s five representatives at the league’s all-star game, has won 164-of-290 faceoffs (0.566) this season, which ranks as the third-highest winning percentage among those with at least 200 faceoffs taken. The Outlaws return to action on Saturday night when they play their first-ever game in Long Island. The game is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. MDT. NFL Titans vs Broncos
The Denver Broncos (1-1) began the home portion of the 2006 preseason with a victory against the Tennessee Titans (0-2) Saturday night at INVESCO Field at Mile High. The teams had not faced off since Christmas 2004 -- a Broncos win at The Coliseum in Nashville, Tenn. This was the first time the Titans had visited Denver since the moved to Tennessee in 1997. The game showcased the talents of two highly-touted quarterbacks -- Vince Young of Tennessee and Jay Cutlerof Denver. The Titans looked at Cutler before the draft but selected Young with the No. 3 pick. Denver drafted Cutler at No. 11.
