The final order of finish of last years NFL season was as follows: *as determined by the NFL
1. Pittsburgh Steelers 2. Seattle Seahawks 3. Indianapolis Colts 4. Denver Broncos 5. Jacksonville Jaguars 6. Carolina Panthers 7. Chicago Bears 8. New York Giants 9. Cincinnati Bengals 10. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 11. Washington Redskins 12. New England Patriots 13. Kansas City Chiefs 14. San Diego Chargers 15. Dallas Cowboys 16. Minnesota Vikings 17. Miami Dolphins 18. Atlanta Falcons 19. Philadelphia Eagles 20. Baltimore Ravens 21. Cleveland Browns 22. St. Louis Rams 23. Arizona Cardinals 24. Detroit Lions 25. Buffalo Bills 26. Oakland Raiders 27. San Francisco 49'ers 28. Green Bay Packers 29. New York Jets 30. Tennessee Titans 31. New Orleans Saints 32. Houston Texans
Last year about this time we looked at the "experts" rankings right before the season started.
Now is where I grade them. Very simply, I just added up the differences between where they predicted a team to finish, and where the team actually finished.
Sports Illustrated pulled down a Xeno Composite Score (XCS) of 282, and only had one correct pick (the Titans). Their most notable misses were the Bears (they had them ranked last) and the Ravens (they had them 7th). Terrible.
CBS Sportsline pulled in a XCS of 306, but had two correct picks (Chargers and Lions). They were generally hit or miss, with 6 picks within 2 places of the final spot, and 5 picks that were 18 places or more from their final spot. Terrible-er.
ESPN came in a close last, with 307. They only had one correct pick (Chiefs), and had 19 picks in double digits (compared to 17 and 13). Terrible-est.
Frankly, none of these "experts" were anywhere close. I have no choice but to give top honors to Sports Illustrated, despite them ranking the Bears last.
Serena Maneesh has just announced North American tour dates. Looks like they are skipping Baltimore and DC but will be playing at The State Theatre in Falls Church, VA. Not a bad place to see a show.
