In addition to the original four member announcement, the Green Press-Gazette has thus found three more additions to the Green Bay Packers practice squad.
Reportedly the Packers have added receiver Chris Francies, cornerback Patrick Dendy, and fullback Brandon Miree to the original four including Dave Tollefson, Calvin Russell, Zac Alcorn, and Atari Bigby.
With only four receivers on their 53 man roster, the Packers in effect have added a little depth to the position. Chris Francies and Calvin Russell, while not on the active roster, would probably be activated in an emergency situation such as injury.
According to the Press-Gazette, "The Packers also signed fullback Brandon Miree, who was released by the Denver Broncos. The 5-11, 237-pounder was a seventh-round draft pick in 2004 but missed all of his rookie year because of a broken thumb. He spent all of last season on Denver's practice squad."
This is a good pickup for the Packers who aren't totally sold on current backup Vonta Leach.
One practice squad member is still unknown, but one can assume that it will be an offensive lineman where the Packers lack depth. "The Packers were in contact with the agent for Pete Traynor, a center/guard who was in their training camp but was cut Saturday, but they had not offered him a contract as of Sunday night," reports the Press-Gazette as well.
