Rashon Powers-Neal could have endured a difficult offseason adjustment to the professional ranks after his four years at Notre Dame. Last year's arrival of the offensive coordinator from the previous two Super Bowl champions helped ensure that his leap to the NFL wouldn't be so difficult.

"I'm real fortunate that I had him for a year," Powers-Neal said. "It helped me out a little bit; I understood what it was like, but there is still a big difference between what we're learning here and what we learned in college."

With every passing day of quarterback camp, those differences lessened.

"The first day was probably the most frustrating because I was still learning where to line up, but after the first day, I think that I progressed steadily, and that helped out a lot," Powers-Neal said. "They're throwing a lot of things at us -- a whole lot of information at once. I'm fortunate that it's seven-on-seven and we're only doing the passing stuff right now, so I can focus my attention on trying to get the routes and the plays down."

Powers-Neal went into draft weekend expecting to be selected, but didn't emerge from April complaining about his destination.

"There were a handful of teams that contacted me ... Once my agent told me that the Broncos wanted me, I said, 'I'm fine with them," Powers-Neal said. "They're a run-oriented team. They always produce running backs and they have a great system here and they're a winning program. That's something I want to be around -- a winning team."
